AI is an amplifier, not a silver bullet
AI magnifies whatever is already in a team. Platform quality, clear policy and updated workflows decide whether that means strength or dysfunction.
AI does not fix a team; it amplifies whatever is already there. The 2025 DORA report put data behind what many of us had seen in practice: strong teams get stronger, and struggling teams find their problems arrive faster and louder. The single biggest factor in turning individual gains into organizational performance was the quality of the internal platform.
That matches my experience. When we moved hundreds of data scientists onto one governed ML platform, the speedup came less from any clever tool and more from removing the dozens of small, inconsistent paths to production. Give AI a messy delivery system and it produces a mess at higher volume.
Two other points from the research deserve more attention than they get. First, a clear AI policy is a blueprint, not a blockade. Teams experiment more, not less, when they know where the lines are. Second, faster coding only helps if code review, testing and deployment change too. Otherwise you have moved the queue downstream and called it productivity.
Before buying another assistant, ask what it will amplify in your organization today.
